The T-Mobile G1 previously known as the HTC dream, is an internet enabled smartphone designed by Hightech Computer Corporation of Taiwan. The G1 will be the first phone to the market that will use the Android mobile device platform. The phone is part of an open standerd effort of the Open Handset Alliance. It was released for pre order through T-Mobile on September 23, 2008, and planned for availability in stores on October 22, 2008 in the US. It is scheduled to be released in Europe (at least the UK, Germany, Netherlands and Czech Republic) in early 2009. It is priced starting at $179 for existing T-Mobile customers. It comes in three colors: brown, black and white.

Neo1973 is a handset with linux based OS from OpenMoko and designed to be easily configurable and expandable device with sharp contrast to other phones.

The screen display Neo1973 2.8 inch with 640×480 pixel panel give an impressive screen resolution 283 dpi. The excellent display can be compare with Nokia N800. You can control almost all of the menu from the screen. Unfortunately there’s no camera on Neo1973, only GPRS connection with GSM network. No Wifi and 3G and it’s really a lacking cell phone. The reason is simple: creators did not found chip which will:

• be small enough
• not eat lot of power
• have Open Sourced driver

But Neo1973 has feature with AGPS (assisted GPS), microSD memory, bluetooh 2.0 and multimedia playback. The USB connection only version 1.1 so the transfer data speed can’t be compare with 2.0. The memory on the package only 512MB microSD and the internal only 128MB but i can be upgrade if you want to add it.

The Open Moko Neo1973 will be available hopefully on October with discount price US$ 300. The variant will be available with black and orange color

Solution:

First of all I’ve downloaded the latest ALSA driver and associated files from: www.alsa-project.org

• Create a folder called “alsa”: mkdir ~/alsa
• Move the downloaded files to this directory.
• Execute the following commands from within a terminal.
  sudo apt-get install build-essential ncurses-dev gettextsudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r`

  cd ~/alsa
  tar -xvf alsa-driver-1.0.17.tar.bz2
  tar -xvf alsa-lib-1.0.17.tar.bz2
  tar -xvf alsa-utils-1.0.17.tar.bz2
  tar -xvf alsa-oss-1.0.17.tar.bz2

  cd alsa-driver-1.0.17
  ./configure –with-cards=hda-intel
  make
  sudo make install

  cd ../alsa-lib-1.0.17
  ./configure
  sudo make install

  cd ../alsa-utils-1.0.17
  ./configure
  sudo make install

  cd ../alsa-oss-1.0.17
  ./configure
  sudo make install

• Edit your alsa-base filesudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
• Add the following line to the fileoptions snd-hda-intel position_fix=1 model=lenovo
• Save the file and reboot the computer and hopefully you should now have sound.

I am using BSNL Huawei MT800 modem from the past 5 years and I have one desktop and laptop whenever I wants to use my laptop i need to unplug my ethernet cable and connect it to my laptop… I totally vexed by doing this. There is only two options for me one is using router but, thats not a good idea for a laptop. finally i have decided to take a wirelessmodem anyway Iam using BSNL broadband I exchanged my MT800 with WA3002G4…Now everything goes fine, my bandwidth also increased. Hurray! now i can access internet from my terrace also.

The thing is, I got a problem while Iam configuring my IP phone. I tried to configure that in bridge mode and I couldn’t do that, but finally I somehow managed with the PPPOE.

Its was 11:55 my dad was in deepsleep . So we had a 5 minute mission; Bhargav and Sandeep sneaked into the house. We quickly arranged the cake and candles. By this time, my sister gave a call. I woke up my dad and said that someone called for him.
He said: whoz that? ( With puzzled voice and moved to my room ). and they had a small talk meanwhile I left to the other room and we shifted the cake to his room. Then hez moving towards his room thinking that I don’t remember his birthday .

By the time he opened the door, The first thing he could see was the dazzling lights of candles on his birthday cake. He then noticed my friends standing in the dark, that made him lilbit confuse and at the same time happy [:)].

We celebrated the cake and ahhh that tastes so yummy we just finished gobbling up the last bit of it.

Debian – The best of all ! ( Not recommended for New users )
fedora- The most famous one from RedHat .
Ubuntu – The GNU/Linux for Human Beings( Highly recommended)
Open Suse- Simpler GNU/Linux from novell ( nice to look but hard in the complexity especially packages)
Lemme start with Ubuntu ..
1. Set Ur system to boot from CD . ( depends from BIOS TO BIOS)
2. boot from Ubuntu cd ( Get a free cd posted directly to your home ( No charges at all ) from www.shipit.ubuntu.com)
3. press enter and wait for some time ( 1-3 Minutes depending ion yopur processor and ram )
4. Use it and have a feel of linux ( Things run slow as u are running an OS from CD )

5. Click on the install Icon in the desktop
sleect language and select language and other settings give your username password (twice ) and other simple stuff till u come to partitioning
6. partitioning is complex .
BUT A SIMPLER ONE
boot using XP cd delete some “f” or “g” drive
using d key( after u delete u cant see that drive in windows before deleting move ur files to a safer place ie back up )
Then just select option “Use Free Space”
click next.
7. clicking next next will do …

Last month I prepared a board by using a thermocol sheet covered with an yellow coloured plastic sheet. I fixed that in my room so that I can write all the stuff…thanks to santosh, he helped me to fix that

Drawbacks:

Non Removable battery – Apple’s tradition of non-removable battery continues with the iPhone. Mr Jobs we know that Mac OS X is pretty stable but it is definitely not perfect so what do we do if the phone freezes, as removing the battery is the only option to get it started again. Smartphones are prone to such problems and as you start filling up the onboard memory the chances of the phone freezing increase dramatically.

When Iam in my 1st year B.tech I installed Fedora-4 but, at that time I dont know how the things work on it. So i just wave it aside. Later pavithran helped me and I started with Ubuntu 6.0, pavitran helped me to install every thing and I used that distro for a long time. Later I tried almost all distro’s. Finally iam using Debian now.
